well took the truck on about a 45 mile round trip with my scanner plugged the gauge and the scanner are synced for the most part truck never hot hotter then 183* in some light stop and go traffic on the E-way it never budged off 172* didnt matter if i was doing 60 or 85mph the dash gauge was showing in the middle of 180 and 210* when the scanner showed 183* but it was only about 35* out today and when all this happened it was 65* out witch was the warmest day since i own this truck

I dont know maybe the tune in this is not done right for heavy traffic?

hmm thats crazy. are you using stock thermostat? Once my 05 is warmed up it stays at 198-201 pretty much consistent. Its also 30-40 deg here . My factory gauge always shows just barely under 210.

not sure since this is a LQ4 swap?

if the wire was loose or had a weak connection for the temp sensor would the gauge move or any thing?

i would think it would jump around alot if you had a bad sensor/connection. Not sure what thermostat those use but generally seems all these trucks have a 187 from factory

this is really crazy now? truck will sit and idle for hours and the temp stays at 180*? on the E-Way any thing over 50mph 180* heres the funny part driving at 20 / 30mph temp climes ???? WTF?

was on the E-Way today traffic was steady around 25 / 30mph and the temp climbed again? A/F gauge was bouncing from 14.2 to 15.4 so its not leaning out? the coolant tank is a little more then half full so i know there's enough coolant i just dont get it?

but it was raining out today it last time it done this too i just dont know if a wet connection at the coolant temp sensor would cause it to rise?

A sporadic short circuit will cause it to read higher temperatures (less resistance = hotter). Open circuit would read -40*F I think.

thinking ti just install a new temp sensor sending unit and thermostat just to be safe

just find it really odd it only does it when doing 20-30 mph
