Dude, $195.00 for labor on replacing an Instrument Cluster??? WTF? The Service Consultant was def. trying to smoke your ***!

If it's not under warranty or covered by THE GM SPECIAL POLICY BULLETIN, and a customer has to pay for it, we don't charge nearly that much.

At the very most, we bill .3 labor hours for removal and replacement and then we bill the Programming fee (to program the correct milage in). The way that breaks down at my place is....

0.3 labor for R&R= $19.50
Tech II Re-Programming flat fee= $65.00

For a total of $84.50....again, at the most. Some of my Tech's will not clock the 0.3 labor...but then some of them will bill for every minute they are on the repair because some take the Flat Rate/Commission Pay scale to heart.

I'm guessing that the dealer was going to GoodWill the part, then soak you on the labor. Sounds like they were going to charge 1.5 labor + a programming fee...outrageous
