A 100% street legal, low 10 second, 20+mpg truck that can tow 20K lbs. and run like stock around town isnt worth it?

Where does it say that?? That paticular trucks GVWR is not any where near what it use to be. The suspension has been altered.
I also doubt it's totally reliable anymore for a daily driver.

It doesn't take long to note that truck has basically no tow capacity at all, and certainly not without making major changes will it be able to tow what a normal one could. Besides all that, it was simply never rated for 20K to begin with. The max factory capacity is probably closer to 15k, and only then with a gooseneck trailer, which it surely hasn't got in working fashion. Regardless, with the suspension it appears to have, tow cap. is nil or worse imo. As for mileage, see the smoke pouring out above the bed? I'd bet it gets less than 15mpg(hwy) with no load even when tuned down for hwy use at this point. It almost surely didn't get 20 or more even when factory stock. Having worked for Dodge myself, it was rare to hear an owner brag about more than 18mpg on the highway.

Not sure why you think it would only get 15mpg. Just because it dumps tons of fuel at full throttle doesnt mean it does at low throttle. My 89' CTD with twice the power it came with stock got 23mpg with the old 727 3 speed. With the 18cm exhaust housing I was only seeing about 5psi on the highway. At full throttle I could roll black smoke till boost got over 20psi. By 38psi there was no smoke at all. More power in diesels can mean more milage. A Dmax with Crazy Larry can get 3-4mpg more at the same speed than a stock Dmax.

Either way its a cool diesel truck.

It barely got 18(hwy) when stock. Plus, that's a RACE TRUCK, not something the owner simply tunes for driving to and from the track. Odds are, he's got capabilities to tune it, but not the time. Then add in the larger turbo and countless other mods needed to run 10's and add the lack of reliability because of all those modifications and you have a truck you can't expect to be getting good fuel mileage or tow a decent load.

Your truck didn't run 10's(or even close) on the 1/4 mile either. That truck has more like 7 times the power a stock 89 had.

There's a difference between a 2001 or newer D-max and a 1980's any truck. It's called electronics and that makes things very "tunable," making higher fuel economy easier than before.

Either way its a cool diesel truck.
Sure, if you like oddities. It's a centerpiece, so to speak. But as practical transportation, it fails miserably imo.
