I dont think theres a lot of power left up there in the high rpms with such a little gear ratio.,.. but thats for me im speaking of... i wasnt sure what gears you had
this might be true?? what would be the best way to find out?? put it on a dyno??

I have the 4.10's, and with the 223 225 564 571 114 cam it pulled to 6800, now with new cam 226 226 585 585 112 i don't think it can pull that high, will have to get it on a dyno and check peak hp #'s then take it to the track and see what it does.

kevin, how do you determine that the new cam does not pull that high?? are you going to let allen put it on the dyno??

well I'm not sure it pulls that high untill i get it on a dyno, but after shifting at 6800
2-3 and running a 12.51 then run again and shift at 6000 2-3 and run 12.53 I would have to say it is. look at my first post on here, the break down is pretty good.

im willing to bet w/ that cam and 4.10s the motor makes more power around 5800-6000 than between 6000-6800... just my guess.

and if this is the case, you can shift earlier and maybe gain some top end back, and maybe see 12.45's or so with just shift point changing... let us know... i think the best way would be to have someone tune with you at the track and just figure where you need to be. good luck.

peak hp w/ truck intake is aound 5900. so work around there and your shift extensions

I agree with him. The setup you have should be good to the 6700 range easily, but with that truck intake you aren't gaining a whole lot running it that high. I would also agree that you may have as much as a full tenth available to you in changing your shift points.

Yeah either that cam's 112 LSA is hurting your top RPM band or it's definitely the truck intake manifold!! Hard to say, cause I have a bone stock (internals) 5.3 ECSB!! I have lots of little bolt ons but no real power adders. Looking at my efi live Torque and HP calc. it seems to still be higher in HP at 6000RPM than it is at 4000RPM(which is where it falls after the shift). With that in mind if your cam makes just as much HP at 6700 (with a 4500RPM shift in next gear) than it does at 6000 (3900RPM shift in next gear) than the only difference in power would be torque!! I know that with my setup I make more torque with about the same HP at 3900RPM, than I do at 4400RPM!!! Not sure if that makes sense but the gist is... if you're making more overall power (HP AND TORQUE) in a lower RPM band than you are at higher RPMs then that could be what you're experiencing!!! Just my .02 though
