If I had to use it on a daily, hell, even a weekly basis, I would want the one that displayed the numerical code and text description too. But for the occassional code, the one that just displays the numerical code is fine. It's just a matter of convenience, I guess.

I have this code reader I bought from Harbor Freight, a tool outlet here in Houston for $25 bucks. Its nothing fancy , just reads you codes and clears em and comes w/ a book that gives the decpriction of code . Not bad for the price

autozone does it for free. drive up there, get it checked write down the codes. then try going to here:
