Default Changing Oil?

My 2004 Z71 just rolled 100K miles. I was thinking about going with a different oil, for high mileage. I'm completely "brain dead" right now, and cant remember what the dealership currently uses. I'm considering changing to royal purple, any concerns??? Should I do anything before changing brands (complete flush)??? Or, will it be ok to drain it, and put something else in???? Anyone suggest a different high mileage oil?

I have no experience with the royal purple.

I have been running Valvoline Maxlife for high mileage engines in my truck since 80K.

It's over 160K now.

A flush wouldn't hurt, but I would change to whatever brand you like and just keep an eye on it at regular intervals to make sure it's not burning off.

Dump a half a quart of tranny fluid in the oil and drive it 100-200 miles and then change the oil, thats your engine flush done right there.

As for royal purple, it's a waste of cash in my eyes.

Just get some valvoline syn oil if you want a nice full syn oil that can do 5,000 on a change. Otherwise you could be like me and just keep running the cheapest oil out there and never have a problem as long as it's changed on time.

I run 10w-30 full synthetic royal purple, boosted 5.3 with 134k miles.

I run Amsoil 10w40, all your over the counter oils have most of the Zinc removed from them....

Zinc is good but over time it can plug up cats if you have them I guess. Its also referred to as ZDDP. I want Zinc in my oil.

How many miles are you getting out of your synthetic oil with a turbo? Mine is whooping regular oil currently. Must be the heat cycles the turbo puts on it.
