Default THIS cant be happening to me

So a little while ago i bought a worked up aluminum block 6.0 and everything has been great, until today. All of a sudden this morning my oil pressure is only 20lbs and it knocks. The oil level is up and the oil quality is good. Just low pressure and a knock. This motor only has 8000 miles on it, 8000 miles and its taking a **** on me. Im just so depressed. Does anyone know what the problem might be. Main bearings? i assumed if it was just an oil pump that it wouldnt knock. Everything, including oil pump and bearings were brand new when i bought it. I just needed to complain to someone, this is my only vehicle. So i guess the Bus is next.

I'm sorry to hear about this. I'm no mechanic but it doesn't sound good. I've seen your videos and I know you aren't easy on that LS2 though.

When a pump fails usually all pressure is lost but never know. Drop in pressure does point to a bearing along with the knocking.

Sucks buddy. Unfortunately I read a lot about LSx style engines failing after a rebuild.... more so than other engine platforms. Makes me worry about doing my own build when the time comes.

It only takes about 5PSI of oil to float a bearing at idle. If you have at least that much oil pressure at idle and it's still knocking I would be looking for something mechanical causing it, not an oil pump
