Default Can a 99-04 V6 Tow Well?

Just as the title asks, can a NBS 4.3 v6 tow 4000 lbs daily and still get as good mileage as a V8 towing the same load? Any input from experience would be great!

no, mileage drops to approxiamately 10mpg loaded.

im assuming the v8 trucks get better mileage when towing, maybe someone doing that will chime in.

I doubt it. My grandpa just got a NNBS 4.3 Regular cab and he averages 17mpg unloaded.
My 03 ECSB 5.3 with exhaust, tune, and 20"s averages 18mpg unloaded.
While my moms 99 blazer 4.3 averages about 16mpg unloaded.

The v8 is going to have more torque so it'll handle the load better and work with less strain.
I towed my blazer about 40 miles and didn't see a big drop in my MPG.

But as mentioned above, i wouldn't assume anything until someone with a nbs 4.3 speaks up.

depends...my 4.3 rcsb got 17mpg not matter what i did. i could put around the whole, drive it like a racecar, or tow 3 450rs on a 16' trailer. i doubt you'll be very happy towing 4000lbs though. better get a 6.0

Thanks for your input guys. I was only getting a V6 cause I was getting a steal on one to use for a work truck. Looks like I'll search for a 4.8 or 5.3

if you are referring to me, i meant for people with a v8 truck with towing experience to chime in because i have experience towing with the v6 but not the v8.

i do agree with dozerdan on one part, i could drive the 4.3 any way i wanted as long as it was unloaded, and i got the same mileage. but put a trailer behind it and it basically cut in half.
