Default cam bearing problem

I have the chance to buy a 6.0 out of a 2001, rebuilt not long ago, it lost oil pressure, the guy had the pan down and looked at some of the bearings, they looked ok, he got a used engine to replace it because he needed the truck asap. I pulled the rear block cover to check a few things out, and the rear cam bearing was loose, I could see where it tapped against the cover, I pulled it the rest of the way out, it looked almost new, but i don't understand why this happened. Is there a way for a machine shop to fix this? I could get it cheap, but I don't know if it is worth it. Tell me what you think.
