I got one dead one and the other is on borrowed time. Everytime I get in the back of the truck to get something I just know that one cable is gonna dump my a$$ on the pavement.

Both of mine broke a few weeks ago while some friends were sitting on it. I guess that is good enough criteria for the dealer... two rusty broken cables just hanging there.

i went to my local dealer and he took my vin number and year down, then said come back in a week when they get some paper work from corporate that says they can change them out. so, all i took was the print out about the recall. funny, the guy told me about 6 months ago that there was nothing wrong with the cables, i just exceded the max limit of them. hmmmmm.

I have that problem too. I often carry my ATV in my truck and one of my cables is broke and the other looks weak. What does the dealer replace them with? Does your truck have to still be under warranty for it to apply?

Since it is a recall, warranty should not apply. It is a factory defect, that they have been found at fault for several accidents which means they could be held liable for any serious injuries.

I think I will take the papers to my dealer and see what they say sometime next week or the one after.
