oh yeah, a little jbweld, some duct tape, and bondo, and she's as good as new.. lol

Edit: BTW, on that pic of the heads, on the left head it says 4.8 on the casting. I just noticed that today, do all of them have that on there, or has someone swapped the heads or motor at some point?

I believe if the camera was a bit lower you could see 5.3 below the 4.8.

The casting number on the outside is what you need to look at.

aw man I thought you had real problems just drop in some engine stop leak crap and it'll be good for another 80k miles.

This happened to me last year.. lol I just now got around to tearing it down.. BTW, I got everything from this motor for sale if anybody needs parts. here is a link to the for sale thread, just PM me if you want anything.

GM has always used 2 casting numbers for each Gen 3 engine combination. For example early year 5.3l engnies have cast numbers 706 & 862. Early year 5.7l engines use 241 and 853 cast numbers. LS6 engines use 243 and 799 cast numbers. I don't have an explaination for this, just an observation. (Cut and paste from Richard at WCCH)
