Brake Controllers
#1
Anyone here wired one up in our trucks? Any ideas on which one to buy? We're getting a trailer soon with electric brakes and I need to get a brake controller setup to properly tow with it. The trailer harness (stock) is wired for the electrical part, just need to wire in the brake controller from what I've heard.
Any thoughts/suggestions are greatly appreciated

There are two types of brake controllers, proportional and time delayed. This article was very helpful.

I went with the Voyager model and have not had a problem. you can make adjustments easily for towing loaded and empty....that way you do not lock the brakes up when running empty.

They are good prices on ebay.

its a snap, i got the controller for 60 bucks and the pigtail for it for 16, they were both the same brand and designed for chevy's, under the dash there is a plastic cover to the left of the brake pedal, remove it and there is a bunch of plug fittings, they are all different, just plug the pigtail into the one that it fits and plug the other end right into the brake controller. then all you have to do is mount the controller and adjust it and voila trailer brakes

thanks a bunch for the info, I'll probably be ordering the voyager on eBay this weekend. I'm glad it's a really simple plug/play type deal. It'd be nice if the pigtail worked for my dad's H3 too since he'll be using the trailer as well.
