Kristi - I really would've liked a Duramax as well, but it was more than I was wanting to spend. One salesman thought he could get me 0% for 60 mos. on an '03 crew cab Duramax, and I was all for that if he could've pulled it off! But, he couldn't do it, so he kept pushing the '02 4x4 Duramax crew cab on me. It was red w/ tan interior, and I'm not a big fan of the tan interior. I also did NOT want the 4x4 since I'll never use it. It listed for over $43,000, and my truck that I bought listed for a little over $32,000. It's over $6,000 just to add the Duramax and Allison trans! I nearly fell on the ground when I saw that. $4,800 just for an engine option is crazy, but it would've been nice. The 6.0L honestly tows VERY well for my needs, so I'm happy with it. I didn't realize how much the 1500 Sierra was straining to tow until I towed w/ the HD. The wheels/tires went on yesterday, and the spray-in bedliner, window tint, and brake controller go on Thursday. I was going to install the brake controller since the wiring is provided, but they said they'd throw it on for free. I told them to knock themselves out. I think I can pick up a billet grille at cost, so if I can I'll throw it on either tomorrow night or Thursday night. bling bling!

Congrats on the truck Trevor!

Tow truck grudge racing eh.... hmmm I think my mom might want some of that action in my heavy *** Avalanche ...maybe she can leave on the second staging light, and cut the light on ya'll Sheesh it damn sure won't happen if you leave on the first Amber with it .

I don't know man... I know two guys who recently picked up HD models with the duramax, and they have both been greatly UNDERWHELMED with it.

I might be a little worried. Your "light" Avalanche might take me. It's sad when an Avalanche is considered light. LOL! I see this truck cutting some MEAN 2.3-2.4 60' times. Your Formula doesn't have anything on my truck!

What's been the problems with the Duramax that have your friends underwhelmed by it?

One of them really got crappy fuel milage, significantly lower than what it was rated for. The dealer took the stance of " you need to put a few thousand miles on it then check it "... that truck has since been traded. The other guy uses it for a company truck, and is used to pull a trailer on a daily basis, he just doesn't think it has the power it SHOULD have, and says it seems to have a tougher time pulling than his truck he had before.
Who knows...

All I know is before I bought one, it would be hooked up to my loaded car hauler, and driven a while.

I spoke with my cousin about her Duramax dually, and she said that the gas mileage hasn't been that great in her's either. She was pulling a small horse trailer with only one horse loaded up (no more than 4,000# with trailer and horse), and she got 12.5 MPG with all highway driving. That really sucks IMO. That's what I got pulling my car and trailer (2,000# trailer with 3,450# street weight SS) to Lubbock. She said it pulls great, but it just doesn't get the gas mileage that she was expecting. It's still better than the 8.1L she had before the Duramax!
