Default bad 4L60E

so my tranny is starting to slip pretty bad and I was wondering what to do with the rebuild. Will a nice rebuild kit be good enough or should I convert it to a 4l80e?

here are my mods

5.3L
hooker headers
full Gibson exhaust
msd's
diablo tune
full K&N air filter
different coil

the tranny supposedly had been rebuilt with performance clutches and a shift kit...

All I was doing was cruising at around 30mph and then stabbed the throttle to about 60.. did it about ten times over a span of a month and now the tranny slips in 1st...

any input on how to go about the rebuilt would be greatly appreciated. thanks

you should be wayyy safe with a 60e. I would recommend a sponser. either performabuilt or FLT. Just do it right the first time with one of them and be done.

In my case I could not wait for the two week turn around and no resources to do the swap myself. I have a friend who drag races and asked him and others at the track for a recommendation and got a good one.
I then printed the FLT stage 3 build sheet and interviewed him and most of the things on the list were already on his mind.
So if you have to go local don't just tell the guy you want a beefy tranny. Have some idea of the hardware you want.

If you have the time or another vehicle to drive while you wait I suggest FLT transmissions. They had a 2 week wait when I looked and when you get it installed and checked out you put yourold one in the crate and ship it back. It's all pre-arranged in the sale.

If you have a local performance builder it's faster. FLT is pretty much worshiped around here because of their great rep.

my friend's uncle rebuilds trannies so he's going to do it for me.. I guess I was just wondering if another tranny rebuild kit would be useless if it was just going to slip again... Its just weird because I'm not making that much hp over stock
