Default The aux cig lighter/ power source

I want my XM and Radar detector to turn off and on with my key but the aux cig lighter next to the reg cig lighter doesnt work. The dealer said it was something with the lighter part itself but I popped open that cover and plugged the cig connector into the aux connector and it worked fine. Wheres the fuse for the aux cig lighter located? I thought I found it but that fuse is good, I even replaced it anyhow. Oh the aux power on the back of the console doesnt work either. Anyone else have these problems? Thanks!

I just looked it up in the tech manual on mine, 04 silverado. The fuse is labeled AUX PWR. Its a 20 amp fuse on the right side of the underhood fuse box next to a relay. It powers both the one on the console and the rear one.
Hope that helps.

Ha thanks. It works fine now. The a@@hole I bought the truck from gave me some story about how the power source itself was out and he had to order a new one. He told me it would be here in 4 weeks. What a liar. Wish I wouldve dealt with someone else.

Anyhow there isnt a plug that turns on and off with the truck? Whats the best way to wire these up to somewhere behind the dash/bezel? I dont think the cords are long enough to rig them to the fuse box. I just dont like having to plug in and unplug my accesories everytime I get in and out of the truck.

Thanks!!

Glad that helped.

Painless wiring has a Aux fuse block with 1 constant and 2 ignition switched circuits that work off a relay. They are around $40 or you could build your own for around $20. This is what I would recommend the best, because I do not like to splice into wires or the fuse block.
