Just wondering if anyone could provide some useful insight to my issues atleast maybe until i can call them and vent a little at em...
Ok. The guages themselves and the senders work great, the issue im having is with the wiring of the main control unit. which is supposed to be wired as so.
- Red --> Always Hot +12v
- Yellow --> Hot with Ignition +12v (MUST remain hot during engine cranking...)
- Black --> Ground
- Green --> Opt. Tach thingy
- Violet --> Opt. Tach thingy
OK now i'm having trouble fullfilling where to wire these three wires to (ignore the green and violet i have no plans on using them). I've tried several variations and i still get problems as soon as i cycle the starter. But as far as i can tell the Red and Yellow are getting steady voltage. Am i having a simple grounding issue? like should i connect it directly to the negative terminal? I'm just totally lost right now and kinda frustrated.
Time for a beer...

well just to do a quick test wire the yellow to the 12v+ constant and see if it works. you could allways leave it like that and put a switch on it, but with a multi meter or even a test light you could find a suitable power source

Ground is ground, find a metal section under your dash to tap into. Many times if you pull off a lower dash panel, there will be some metal frame work you can use. You could even use your factory radio's ground.
Red - easy, take it off of the fuse panel or 12V+ radio lead.
Yellow - Now this is an interesting one, something that is switched with the ignition, but on during cranking at well? You'll have to take out a multimeter, and check to see which circuits are active in your fuse panel. I bet there are at least a half dozen that are. I don't quite understand why it needs to be on while cranking though? I've had many a elec gauges with senders from Omori, Greddy, and Blitz. I don't recall that requirement,

i reason the requirement to have the yellow remain hot while cranking is because the nexus system is a computer controlled guage. Everything plugs into one central box, sender units, power, wired control, and a single digital cable goes to the guages themselves. So its kinda wired like this..
Senders--> Control
Power --> Box ---> Guage 1 --> Guage 2 --> Guage 3 --> Etc.
I spent the little extra to simplify the amount of wire i'd have to run to my pillar... Oh well i havent lost hope yet
PS. The exact problem is this (i wasnt very precise in the first post) Ignition ON, guages initilize everything goes A.OK, senders read. I start the engine, guages freeze up and the M.I.L. light blinks 4-1 pattern. (No guage detected...) While really annoying it would be livable since it works if i go straight to starting the engine rather than stopping at ON. But when it goes into Malfunction mode the damned gauges dont turn off... lol

I recently ordered some autometer elec gauges and I posted the same question. I got a reply saying that the pink wire on in the main ignition harness is a keyed/steady +12 during crank.

Something from the Autometer site..
• Yellow = key on power supply. *Must stay powered on during cranking of starter. Failure to do so may cause mis-calibration of gauges
I guess thats my issue i just havent found a consistant enough powersource for the yellow lead.
I really dont want to tinker with the pink wires coming out of the main power bus but i guess im running out of options lol cause i'd really like to get back to driving rather than stealing my friends blazer

i had some problems with my tranny temp. i had grounded to the freakin dash supports behind the cluster and low and behold it is not connected to the frame. make sure you find a suitible ground. i fought my truck for hours until i found that out.

Well part of my problem now is actually my battery is low... really low... According to the Tech's at AutoMeter the nexus doesnt like it if the Yellow lead drops below 9.5v during cranking. And i suspect actually my battery might be shot i've been charging it all day and still now "green eye" in the hydrometer. Oh well time for a Red Top
