One thing I like about my '03, I can turn the headlight **** to the left and the lights will cut off and will not come back on until I turn it back to the auto setting.
Me too.
I had auto lights on my 00 Z28, and it sucked when I pulled up in front of an apartment building or something at night and wanted to sit there a minute with the car on; I know it would **** me off to have lights shining in my window late at night.

Haven't noticed that feature in the '03 trucks....hmmm.
Would the headlight switch from an '03 plug and play with the 99-02 models. I have to try that!

There is a certain year that the dome overide button pushed 4 times in a row trick dosent work.

It may be 2000 and below. not sure.

But in my 2002, I hit the dome overide button 4 times fast in a row, and everything is off.

'99 and early '00 trucks don't have the override feature... you have to turn the truck off, set the parking brake (1 click only) then drive start it back up. As long as you don't release the p brake, the lights won't come on.

I think that is known, but it sucks having to do all that, which is why I asked if you could put the '03 headlight switch on the 99-02 models. That way, you can just switch it off of auto and turn the lights off without having to restart truck form putting the parking brake on, ya know?

I called the dealership and they said the switch for an '03 model only cost $69.00 retail, so I am thinking I could get it for $60.00 at least. This is way cheaper, and cleaner than the switch from R & D, if it works.

I am going to buy one and chance it. I'll let you guys know if its plug and play.

Keep one thing in mind. They did a huge job of rewiring in the 03 models. The factory radio even serves as part of the brain now. You may want to pull yours and get a good look at it. Then go to the dealer and see if the plugs are the same before you spend the money.

Guys, you can over-ride the automatic lights on the 99/00's with a 10¢ resistor & a little elbow grease. I'll post the instructions up tomorrow.
