Default auto column shifter

Anyone know how to remove the metal piece that the shifter connects to?

Looking at the replacement part on rockauto, it looks like there are 3 mounting points. The black torx that's above and forward of the shifter, another towards the front of the truck and one on the bottom side, inbetween the 2 on the top. After those are out, idk, bc i've never removed one myself.

It wouldn’t hurt to try that. It’s not like I am using it anyway. Just wanted another opinion on it, if I try it I will post it up here for anyone else in future that is in my shoes.

Yeah it looks similar, not same, as the 1995-up column. Three torx bolts. That's usually the assembly that gets busted when the shift-lock solenoid goes bad and people start reefing on the shifter trying to get it out of park...

haha that is a new one as well for me. Might have to use it as well. Suppose to be warm tomorrow, so I might wrench on it a little to see what results I get. Springs will probably pop out everywhere like in the cartoons

I'd like to know as well. Haven't removed mine yet because I'm still looking for the manual shift clam shell covers to fill the hole.

I have actually found two of them, both are local pickup only which is dumb because they are basically turning down money. There is guy on here that lives pretty close to one of them and is going to check it out sometime for me.

I know I'm old but come on man

Someone posted this list earlier.

I think the manual S-10's would probably be easier to find in a salvage yard.
