Default Anyone work for a Buick dealership or gm

I am trying to find out what is so different on our early production buick regal. When built they installed gen 8 onstar module and later when they recieved the gen 9 those were installed well we were looking forward to the mylink app but now onstar says gen8 isn't compatible WTF!! Brand spanking new vehicle and they install old hardware!? If any one knows what other functions or extra wireS were needed/add to make the system run in a pre 9 install. I guess if there was a wireing diagram for both systems in the same car

The '11 Corvettes aren't compatible either. But, sorry I can't help you.
