well I was at a friends dads buddys house picking up some things that he barrowed from me and I was told he does autocross and I needed to come by and check his setup out well anyways I get there all I see is 4 transams modded -2 old school cars and 2 newer ones with the ls1 in them... This guy pulls in his drive way with 74 of these hoosier tires Im thinking jackpot!!! I might have found some tire to play with on the drag strip was talking to him a little and hes goes through 4 sets of tires every month!!! and he only uses them for 2-3 races and they have about 2/32nds left if not more on average, and then tosses them Im like WTF give them to me so It looks like I hit the jackpot if these are any good. I figured they would be better than street tires that i have with a treadwear of 520!

specs

275/45ZR16 LL
Treadwear: 40
Traction: C
Temperature: A40 C A
1477 lbs.Load Max.

24 lbs. Tire weight
8-10.5" Rim Width Range

Kind of small, don't you think? It's going to look odd everywhere but Texas, Arizona, and Mexico. They'd be sure fun in the rain.

Good compound, small tire, stiff sidewall.

Go to Yahoo and punch in gear ratio calc and then enter your info.

They are car tires. Just because it is free, doesn't mean it is something you should use.

Are you planning on running them just at the strip... I was running a 26" tall tire at the strip (255/50/16) with 3.73s and it seemed to be just about perfect. Imo it wasnt that bad... but I have a 2/4 drop and I really could care less what the truck looks like at the track. Those are on a 8" wide wheel as well

I say for free, throw a set on all 4 and go find some corners.

I guess using them only on the strip wouldn't be so bad. But they are autocross tires - probably better than a street tire, maybe not as good as a drag radial, but for free I guess that's OK
