Default Anyone with Duramax/Allison setup. I got some ?s

just wondering how much gas milage yall usually get towing 5500lbs. right now i am towing with a 96 vortex 4x4 truck and getting 9-11mpg towing my car and trailer to the track and 18mpg not towing anything. someone told me that the Duramax will get 20mpg towing that much and more then that empty. is this true? if so, i might start looking for one.

my dad just got a 04 GMC Duramax Crew Cab 4x4,

I am not sure on the gas milage, but its a hell of a lot better than his old 6.0L that was in his HD.

I would estimate 17-18mpg on the highway just normal driving.

But it only has a hundred and somthing miles, so maybe its still breaking in.

we get about 18-20 mpg with the edge programer on our 03 duramax ECSB and about 12 mpg pulling a 6K lbs tralor BUT we pull at 80 mph. lol. dont even notice it is back there. probably would get closer to 14 mpg at normal highway speeds pulling a trailor.

I get about 16.5 driving around unloaded with my truck. Towing the covered snowmobile trailer I have gotten around 14 I think.

oh and milage is HUGELY effected by how big your foot is, esp in a diesel, and the kind of ground you drive on. in florida, the only hills are BIDGES, lol. so expect to loose a few mpg depending on that.
