Default Annoying rattle/squeak FIXED! (Steering Column Bearing)

had a really annoying rattle/squeak that was driving me CRAZY!

i tracked it down to the Steering Column Bearing (replacement Dorman 905-512)

nice and quiet now dont need to blast the radio to hide the noise

tip: pushing on the new bearing i couldn't get it back all the way i slipped a peace of pipe over the steering shaft and used a prybar with the tip on the firewall putting pressure on the pipe and was able to slide it all the way back with out a lot of force, my truck is DBW so the peddle was simple to take off two 10mm nuts, 15mm socket for the 2 nuts on the steering shaft removing it frees up extra room

it took me about 45 minutes, 20 was fighting installing the new bearing

I have an annoying squeak or rattle that seems to come from my back seat... always been there even with another seat installed... got a fix for that? Lol!

Seriosuly though, was yours obvious that it came from the column?

not to me!

i pulled the dash 3 times and looked and checked even drove it to see where it was coming from it sounded like it was the some place up high but on the drivers side but every thing looked good?? once day i had my son sit in the truck while i was shaking and hitting stuff under the dash when i hit the column he said that might be it so i googled it and found some post about it then took some tape and wrapped it around it to see what happens and it stopped it for a few days so i knew that was it, some say they have a clunk when turning or hit a bump mine didnt it just rattled didnt mater if i was going straight or turning

my last 04 had a lq4 swap i modded it like crazy but it had a dash rattle i couldnt find drove me so crazy i sold the truck, this was probably the problem
