I just did the 6.0L swap thing and CANNOT BELIEVE the difference. My 5.3 ran strong, but this 6.0L is a BadMofo, no joke.

yeah its a 5.3 already, just hydrolocked it and broke a rod, tranny slips a little, found this stuff at a dismantler/garage an acquaintance of mine runs...planning on rebuilding the motor (no block damage thank goodness) with a cam and some other stuff, and the tranny, and maybe sticking it in a s-10 or something equally small and picking on some local rice and such...

maybe, but its not just a visual, like i said, i could probably get away with it, but i cant take the chance. I am probably gonna sell it when i get it fixed anyway... anybody interested in a 2001 silverado 1500 ecsb ls with 123000 on the odo. but 43000 on the motor and tranny, with a new 3.73 and Auburn posi? I owe more than its really worth but it would take about 11,500 to pay it off... and after putting this into it i cant let it go for less than that

If they look at the block they WILL know. It is stamped on it in a couple of places. THe 4.8/5.3 are the sameblock but the 6.0 is stamped 6.0L. Emisions wise they may or may not be able to tell.

Yeah they can tell if they take the accessorie bracket off since thats where it is stamped with 6.0L which they arent going to do

You can see it in this pick here

Its stamped on the back of the block too but thats covered by the bellhousing.

You can get a brand new LQ9 come with pretty much everything from dealer for about $4,000 and it comes with a 12k/1yr warranty or you can upgrade the warranty to a 36 month warranty for about $500 more.

A factory replacement 5.3L will cost you about $3,500 from the dealer.
