Almost got rid of the truck today
#1
My finace and I have been toying with the idea of getting her a new car since she does most of the driving and I really like to have fast vehicles. Ive been trying to talk her out of a Mercedes and into a CTS-V as I think they are an incredible car for the money and my dad is a fleet manager for GM and I get a supplier discount through work as well.
Well I took her up today to look at them and needless to say she LOVED it
. Well she wasnt the only one and on our way to return it I decided that I was going to get one as well and get rid of the truck.
I met with a pretty unexpected reception. Upon arrival I wanted to talk turkey and the guy wanted credit info. I deal with credit every day and scores dont come much higher than mine and my DIR is very low ( in the range of 20%). So I wanted to get to the bottom line before I had my bureau pulled.
The guy wouldnt give me the time of day and even started helping some other older couple looking at a Catera.
I got the distinct impression that the guy thought I couldnt afford or even qualify. I was in my gym clothes. His loss. Im not sure what he wouldve made on a 100K deal, but I took it as a sign that I should keep the truck. I'll have my dad dealer trade it for me. I'll make sure to take it back to have them detail it for me
Ive worked very hard to get where I am and expect to be treated well for the money I spend. Maybe I expect too much. I had a guy call me 6 times yesterday and I spent almost 3 hours total talking to him. It was a 750K purchase. Thats how business should be conducted IMO.

BTW, the Tahoe is staying.

I walked into a dealer one time with the plan on taking the new H1 Hummer home that they had setting in the show room. The sales men didn't even want to talk to me he turned around and walked off when I asked about it.
