Today I found a great machine shop in Thomasville. I wont name any names here PM me for info. This guy knows his **** all he does is build funny cars. I walked into his shop and was like Ive found meca here it is and no one knows about it. He outsources his CNC work but the rest of engine stuff he does in house. I got some great price quotes like 290 for a custom cam new from comp; valves, springs retainers, seats etc 150; to mill, clean, pressure check and do a competition valve job with assembling and polishing the heads he charges 150. He doesnt do any over the hood work man I wish you guys could of seen this shop it was beautiful. I also found someone with a rolling dyno in the area. If your in the area you should check it out, hes got a real nice setup.
I cant wait to get the heads and cam done then its track time.

The problems Im getting over now is deciding on a cam to fit my heads, Im plannin on running an all motor 5.3 the problem is just displacement is so small. I dont think it matters how well I get my heads to flow I just dont have the cylinder volume to take advantage of it. Great flowing heads on a 325 will only see thier full potential at 7000 rpm's which is rediculous for my daily driver. I love challenges so Im doing it anyway. my goal is low 13's in an ecsb z71 with an NA 5.3 I bought some books and have been reading. I think the cam potential of these engines hasn't been reached yet or no one has tried it. I would love to see some one completely build a 5.3 and spin it to 8000 rpm's
if I weren't in school and had to work full time I would do it just for ***** and giggles. My problem is when I get an idea I go all out.

Maybe I'm showing my ignorance, but what does "no over the hood work" mean?
