Default adding steering wheel controls?

I got an extra steering column and the wheel has steering wheel controls, can i simply just swap the column and have it work. I have a different cluster that to my observations would have these functions.

You have to wire them in with the radio and cluster, not sure if the harness is there or not already. But you will prolly need to have the cluster reprogrammed for the steering controls.

If it's for an 03+ the cluster is NOT programmed for steering wheel controls. The programming is specific to each combination of features, adding or removing buttons results in things breaking.

The harness may already be present but I haven't done this myself.

Srry for thread hacking but I'm doing the same swap in my 2008 nnbs silverado. I added the new steering wheel with controls but mine didn't have any prior. My truck is the manual windows and just swapped out the old rollers and put the new motors. Do I just have to program the computer for the new steering wheel? Thanks guys

Here's the write-up, pretty intense swap, not just plug and play... Important HOW TO: Add DIC to 03-06 gm trucks. - Chevy Truck Forum | GMC Truck Forum - GmFullsize.com
