You might have a bad fuse or relay, check all those and swap relays to be sure, but it sounds like the compressor clutch went out to me. There is also a clutch cycling switch (high pressure) that could be keeping it from kicking on, but that should've been addressed when the company that checked it out first checked the coolant level before they tried adding some (lets assume they did).

If its the compressor, don't worry too much. Other than the price, its not a bad swap at all. I found one on one of the thousands of GM autoparts sites for relatively cheap, and did the swap my self. Easier than I thought. Remove the passenger front wheel and whatever that plastic thing is called that separates the wheel well and the engine compartment and the compressor will be staring you in the face. One connector and three bolts later, you are half way there. Just don't forget to run the same amount of compressor oil in the new one that drains out of the old one. Oh, and don't forget to replace the orifice tube in the line coming from the canister on the firewall. Then drive it to somewhere to have it charged.

just going to throw this in here.... my 04 used to stop working like that, the compressor wouldnt kick it all of a sudden.... some body told me to disconnect the ground or positive wire (cant remember which one?) off the battery for about 3 mins and hook it back up, well for some crazy reason this worked? it would do it like every month or two..... i know weird but it worked... i never found the real problem though... must of been some kind of shorted wire or something?

make sure you checked that with the ac on in the cab......ok now turn your ac on from the cab and check voltage at the compressor i bet you dont have voltage should read 12v.......if you dont then hook up 12 v directly from the battery to the compressor and if it still dont engage then its a bad compressor for sure........if the compressor comes on with battery 12 volts then your in luck and their is a open circuit somewhere fuse....relay.......high or low pressure switch.......let me know i will walk you through it

Well I checked the compressor switch first and their is no power to it. Then I hooked the compressor strait to the battery, and it engages. So where do I go from here? Compressor works, but it's not getting any power??

See if you can turn on the compressor at the relay. It's probably pin 87 of the relay that powers the compressor.
