Default ABS Light...?

My gfs truck keeps throwing an ABS light. It is off and on but can be quite frequent sometimes. Does anyone know if you can check them when the light isn't on or are they like the SES lights that you can only check when the light is on? I am pretty sure you can check it when the light is off but I don't want to make an unneeded trip to the dealership. Any input on this?

When does it go on? My Silverado did it and i scaned it and got the code when it was off. i dont remember the code off hand but it was a IRRATIC REAR SPEED SENSOR. The STEALERSHIP covered it under warranty.

Theres a recall out right now for the ABS sensors if you haden't recieved anything in the mail yet, just hit up the dealer and they have to replace them weather or not your under warranty (tell them to replace not clean them)

Cool, thanks for the info. The stealership wanted $75 to scan it so I am just going to scan it myself at the shop or do it at a friend's shop.

I think only devise that can scan the ABS is the TECH II, but maybe the Snapon can, but not for sure.
