ABS / Brake light on?
#2
ive been looking at these lights for about 5 years now lol. too lazy/cheap to fix it. search ebay for abs module repair. it's usually about 125 if i remember correctly. the lights being on doesnt hurt anything, but when they are on, your ABS brakes do now work properly.

In some cases the issue can be caused by a faulty ground from the ABS module to the frame rail and would be the 1st thing I would check, but it’s also a good possibility you will end up following Stewart’s suggestion towards needing your ABS module repaired.

from what ive seen, the faulty ground only sets the ABS light, not the ABS and brake lights together. its totally possible though and easily checked. the main ground of concern is just below the body mount on the drivers side on the front side of the cab. dont tighten it too tight as it is easily stripped out. just pull the bolt, make sure everything is clean and snug it up.

First thing I would do is scan the ABS module for a code...may be as simple as a bad sensor, broken wire, etc. But, as our buds said above, the module and ground issues are very common
When my ABS module went, it caused the ABS pump to run continuously (I just unplugged it since I had crawled under there to see what is going on, but I could just as easily pulled the ABS fuse under the hood
)

Mine self diagnosed itself when it started running the ABS pump motor and both lights came on at the same time. I pulled the maxi fuse and drove it for a couple months until I got the whole BPMV and EBCM together for 100 bucks from the salvage yard. Its been on there over 2 years and through countless ABS events and hasn't let me down. Pretty much if you've got a 99-02 and the ABS and red brake warning lights are on plan on replacing the EBCM.
