Default 99 Hoe' cam questions.

I believe I've got the dreaded Intake gasket leak in my 99 Tahoe with 63K miles. Coolant is slowly disapearing, and when the Hoe is hot, you coolant outside the vehicle. There is no coolant leaking outside of the Hoe. My question is, if and when i have to put a new gasket on, what would be a good Torquey cam to pull this big bitch around. Something like a .206/.212, would that be good.

look for a 212/218 on 114 lope. This is good for low-end response for a big tahoe. Check around and find out if you need tuning for it tho. Some ppl say they do and some ppl say they dont. Is it @ 4x4? Where in N. GA do u live?

The cam in my sig gives plenty of low-end grunt for a 5.3L, continuing across the powerband. The 212/218 might be pushing it in anything less than a 6.0L with a stock converter.

In the big city of Chatsworth in Murray County, about a hundred miles north of you. I forgot to mention it is a 2wd tahoe OBS with the 5.7.

I was thinking about a 206/212 because I don't know how the 5.7 computer would respond to a very big cam.

You have a 350 in your Tahoe? Is that even an LS1? Hmm. Anyway, if it is, you should be able to get away with something a little bigger than the 206/212. You can basically design your own cam from Comp, they have XE lobes going from 208 on up. For instance, you could make a 208/212, a 208/214, a 210/214, etc. I've attached their lobe sheet so you can have a look and see what they have available.

No the tahoe is not LS1 based, that's why I posted in general truck topics, not the 4.8, 5.3, 8.1 performance forums. I know most of the guys on this forum are life long Chevy guys, as am I, so most have had the Vortec 350 and may have had the same conundrum. I will call Comp if and when I have to replace the gasket.
