Default 99 GMC Sierra Problems...

Ok.. well.. Let me start off by saying that this is my Mom's Fiance's truck.. And I know this isn't really within the theme of the sitebut I've heard alot of good things about the knowledgable people here so I figured I'd see if yall' could help.. *rubs his grand prix*

99 GMC Sierra 1500
4.3L V6 (Ugh..)

Well.. The truck sat up for 2 weeks without being driven (we had an extra vehicle that got 3 times the gas mileage...) Friday he went to start it. THe battery was dead (all we can figure is the radar detector ran it down over the 2 week span)

Well, he boosted it off and it ran for about a minute. Then it died. Now it won't start.

Our mechanic friend told us we could have fried the fuel pump when we boosted it. Well. We checked that.. It's getting fuel to the motor.. so thats not it..

The Service engine light also came on (After alot of trying to get it to start..)

Every car I've had (4..) You've been able to do some little trick and make the thing flash the code.. Is there a way on this truck or am I going to have to find a scan tool?

Any help is appriciated..
Thanks..
B.
