okay so i got a 99 5.3 and i just want to know why people say they are so much worse than all the other years.
i just want to know whats so much different about the engines that they are so much underpowered compared to the rest of the 5.3 year models?

Do some searching on here I am sure it has been covered before. IIRC the computer tune is different and the injectors are lower lb/hr.

 

Only underpowered because of the tune and a slightly smaller cam.

 

I was thinking the injectors were something like 22 or 24 lb/hr and then in 02 they went to a 26lb/hr injector as well is this accurate or no? I thought I remembered something to that effect because I was researching my 02 awhile back.

You're right Thomas, the injectors are smaller. They're around 22 lb/hr at 58 psi vs 24/25 for the later years.
