Thumbs up

The Fuel pump should be fine. I know the pump in those years of trucks make noise. My dad's 97 does it. You will know if you have a fuel pump problem because the computer watches the amp draw on the pump, and if it starts to pull high amps, it will shut it down. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

They make more noise from filter back pressure as it gets dirtier over time. The fuel filter is located on the inside of the driver-side frame rail about where the rear of the driver seat is.
Sound from the fuel pump is normal. At idle it is normally louder than exhaust.

ditto i've had a guy actually come up and ask me why my truck was makin that noise. I told him it was a blower.
