I was searching under 9005 just to see what is the trick these days in 100 watt 9005's and seen the 9005 in the fog light thing. I took my OE 9005's and put them in and BABY nice!
This is on a 2005 Chevy so the smaller light housings on the GMC's may not take the heat. There are several threads where the Chevys are running them with no melt downs or socket burning. We will see.
While I'm at it I want to mention a great headlight harness replacement over at KennedyDiesel.com. I have ran the same harness on several trucks.
It allows for the placement of 100watt lamps in your high beams without fear of melting the sockets. It's made from a heavy gauge wire and nice large solenoids and a diode that you can plug in to allow for all four on with high beams on.
The main purpose is to supply full voltage to the lights that's lost in the factory smallish wiring. Thus reduced resistance and heat and full advantage of the lamps. A nice product and not cheap but I love it.
