6000 miles and no change engine oil light

A GM guy told me it's ,in part, for people who tend to neglect oil changes;if they see a message,they'll be more likely to get it done. It keeps track of engine starts and miles between them( that's part of what he said).

Mine has come on at 7k+ and 15k+ but I cahnged it at 3,084 and about 8k or so. I have close to 16k on the engine.

Mine hasnt come on lately either so I am with you 1slow01z71 going to change it anyway tell hell with that stupid message.

I agree, I Think that its Bull ****. You should change the oil every 3k miles. If you go long periods of time w/out oil changes then that means incressed wear. So maby by 125k or so you will be putting a motor in. That will not be covered under warrenty. IMO They build things not to last but to break over a short period of time. Just a little over 36k.

I have always said that each NEW vehicle comes with a warranty override switch. When the 36K mark hits it overrides the continue to work function. and they start falling apart
