Default 408 dyno on saturday or next saturday.....

dont have much cash but i am really dieing to know what this thing is puting out. i am going to goto the dyno and make just a few runs. not going to push it crazy hard and not try too many diferent things.

i am going to put in 50% race fuel and set the timing at 22deg. then make these runs.

9psi(aprox pump gas setting)
9psi with open cut out
~12psi open
~13psi open
~14psi open
~15psi open

that right there will probably take longer than i can afford but i will be going in tuned for the fuel and with the timing set so it should go prety fast.

based on previous numbers and gtech times and my recent traction problems i expect to see a huge tq increse up to about 4000rpm and decent but not huge gains from there on up. i have numbers from the 4.8 and 6.0 now and this will be on the same dyno so it the numbers should be good for comparing.

my gtech mph's for 20psi on the 4.8 are close to the same as the 408 at 9psi. so i am hoping for around 500rwhp at 9psi and maybe break 600rwhp before we leave. i dont know if the peak tq will be any higher but the lower rpm tq numbers are bound to be high. this thing is a blast to drive and it is all the low rpm tq.

here are some 6.0 numbers

now some 4.8 numbers

i took the bottle out. i am not going to pull the whole kit off, i think i will want it eventualy.

i like the nitrous for 2 reasons. one it got me out of the hole, i think with this 408 i have the tq to pull some 1.5x 60's(or better) if i can figure out how to hook. so no need for the nitrous there.

the other reason i liked it was it was much easier to tune once the maf was maxed out. it is easier to swap a jet to get a little more fuel then use edit and guess on the PEvsRPM table. now i have megasquirt and it makes tuning soooooooo easy. in fact i have the wide band tied into it and it now does WOT a/f targeting and it does a prety nice job of hiting the target. i still adjust the ve table in mega just to keep it from having to adjust too much to hit the target. right now mega can tune easily up to 22psi, higher if i change out the map to a 300 or 400kpa unit. no need to use the nitrous for tuning anymore.

i dont need nitrous any more. if i max out the turbo i might want to spray then but i dont think that will happen till a little ways into next season or later.
