Were they making D-maxes in 2001? I thought that they came out later. The GM diesel before the D-max was a POS.

Yup, lots of stuff. It's most certainly not a direct swap, and some people have $20k plus into their duramax swaps. I've seen a suburban, a friend of dlh2006, banks' red sierra, and another that have done duramax swaps. All of them had at least $15 grand into their setups from what I've read.

I think the D-Max came out in 2001.

I went through 2 of the old 6.5 pieces of junk, but I won't get into that here.

If you got the money you can have a very unique and awesome setup.
Best of luck

01 was the first year for the Dmax. What you needs depends on what you have, lol. Do you have a donor vehicle, or just a motor and trans? Another thing is how are your fab skills? That Ally isn't going to fit in the trans tunnel on the 1500, so you going to need to modify. It can and has been done, just not real easy. The cost will be determined by your abilities and parts you have.

the Allison tranny is about 1-1/2 times bigger over all. You'll need a bigger tranny tunnel, bigger fuel pump, 2 batteries, inter cooler, . . . There was a guy that posted on here that had it done somewhere else in CA.
