4.8 to 5.3 help please

ok so i just got a 5.3 to replace my 4.8. i have been told by a few of my friends that i cant just put a 5.3 in my truck (99 silverado 5speed) the only reason they said was something to do with the transmission wont work but i dont know. any help please

man i had a 4.8 in my 2000 serria and put a 5.3 out of a yukon 2001 and had to buy another flywheel the main crank was not the same, they changed it in 2001 i think man. i did the same swap and then later did the t56 took out the 5speed and also got a whipple good luck
