The current 6.2 has the same block as the Gen III just diffrent heads and a few doo dads.
actually its a different block but with similarities to the GenIII. sorta like the Gen 1 and LT1 motors

I got a 6.2 crate in the shop, and I really can't tell any diffrences. They have some slight diffrences in where some items are mounted and so forth, just about the same diffrence between the LS1 and the LS2.

Then the 5.3 could stay as the lower level engine and the 4.8 will go away. That would leave AFM on every engine in the lineup, plus give anyone the option of matching the Tundras power who needs/wants it.

Guess we'll see...

yeah but as everyone has figured out..... the tundra blows

Yeah but its selling.....GM can't afford to lose any sales that would be as easy to save as dropping a drivetrain already developed and certified into reg cabs...

ITS SELLING BUT EVEN MORE BEING "RE-SOLD" THEY ARE NOW THE MOST COMMON RE-SOLD TRUCK ON THE MARKET IN THE NEW TRUCK CATEGORY...

GM HAD AN INTERNAL MEMO TALKING ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF DISSATISFIED CUSTOMERS, WHETHER IT BE SERVICE ISSUES... MILEAGE ISSUES (TOYOTA HAS ALWAYS PRIDED ITSELF WITH BEING FUEL EFFICIENT)

I THINK NOT ON THIS TRUCK.... NOT TO MENTION THE BUILD QUALITY HAS BEEN CALLED "QUESTIONABLE" BY MANY SURVEYED OF THE CUSTOMERS...

AT THE RECENT INLAND EMPIRE AUTO SHOW I ATTENDED THE NEW GMC AND SILVERADO HAD MORE VISITORS/ INTERESTED BUYERS 4 TO 1 TO THE TUNDRA

THINGS ARE LOOKING UP THANKS TO THE NNBS

heads and intake are totally different, 6.2 is a DOD motor as well and depending on which 6.2 you have it could have VTT. along with placement of sensors and some other wireing...biggest is the head and intake

Well that is good of course, but I'd like to see GM kick some real butt. I did test drive a 380hp reg cab tundra, was prepared to cancel my GM order if I liked it. See how close that was? But in the end the Sierra rode better, looked better (looks are subjective), handled better and just felt more 'solid"..the tundra interior left me cold, hard cheap silver plastic everywhere.

I love my new Sierra. Made the right choice for sure. Things keep changing though, GM needs to stay on top and if they get that power thing out of the way (ie, let me order 370 or 400hp in a reg cab as an option) I wouldn't have even looked at that Tundra.

The only way this could happen is if Toyota and Nissan keep up the pressure. Toyota has the 5.7 and 6 speed available in all their trucks but GM continues to restict the availability of the 6.0 and lets not even talk about the 6L80E being available anytime soon.
