Does anybody have any step by step info on 350TBI to 454 Vortec swap?

 

You can most likely find all the info your looking for on 454ss.com. They have had several members upgrade from the TBI 454 to the later model Vortec L29 7.4L and the basic info will be the same.

 

Only difference is with his SBC, he would need the 454 front coil springs as well to support the extra weight of the BBC as well as a 34" Radiator as well that the 454ss trucks have. Probably need to upgrade your transmission as well to a beefier 700r4/4L60e or just throw in the 4l80e and be done with it if you have an automatic.

 

I have a 90 C2500 3/4 ton 8 lug. sm465 trany. the gross weight is 8600 pounds.
