2nd gear problem

what could be the problem if my tranny just free spins when its in 2nd gear....and when you drive it it just goes from 1st gear to 3rd gear......

The 2-4 band is toast.

the 2-4 band is the band is the large band that wraps around pretty much the entire inside of the tranny correct??

alright i fixed it...yes is was the band and i just did get the servo pin to hit the groove on the band...
