Default 2500HD stock tires suck in the mud! Need suggestions

My truck's a week old today and I was in some SLIGHT mud and the tires were spinning all over the place. The truck got super muddy because I kept having to spin the tires a ton to make it through the mud. I'm looking at 255/85 16 BFG mud terrains for the truck. 33 inch tall, but will fit on the narrow stock rims. I know people go over in size for the wheel width wise, but I thought the tall 255/85 would look good because they are tall and would lift the truck up a bit. Any other tire suggestions? I want to keep the stock rims, btw.

I would do a 31x10.5x16 You shouldn't have any problems with stock wheels. I have 265/75/16 which is the same thing and I am using BFG' Radial Long Trail's. They work great or the all terrains are good.

i have tried a few tires in the mud, dunlop radial rovers sucked i can tell you that.

the best tire i have tried was a good year wrangler ATS, it hooked so well in the mud it completely took all the fun out of playing in the mud, i am talking 6" of mud, not some huge mud bog or anything.

BFG M/T's in a 285/75/16., Crank your bars to level it out and you will be good to go.

I've been thinking about getting the Swamper Trxus
http://www.intercotire.com/html/trxus_mt___sts.htm
I had BFGs before on a jeep cherokee and was not to impressed. They wore out quickly and chucks of the tread broke off. And they are expensive compared to most other mud terrians, especially with there price fixing.

Before I sold the Z71 I was running 285/75/16's on stock rims. Cooper Discoverer A/T. Good all around tire. Nice wet & dry traction as well as pretty decent in the muck. Nice quiet ride too.

MT/R's are a great tire! But do expect a little hum going down the road.

The New mud terrain KMs are supposed to be all improved and what not. I wonder if they are any better than the ones you had or did you have the new version?

You think they're better in the mud than the BFG mud terrains?

No body have any comment on the 255/85? It just seems like the 285/75 are kinda big for the 6.5 inch wide stock wheels, but you don't think it's going to be a problem? Are the wider tires going to dig in the mud and help the truck pull through the mud better?
