2011 silverado engine knocking @ 3k

I hope that's not true. Cause my airbag light needs to be turned off. And I have a light on due to emissions they'd surely see. I don't want any red flags under my name; like if I bought a future vehicle. "Oh this guy tunes his ****."

100 % true.
they take a look at the calibration number history with a tech2, any non-gm calibrations show up as 00000 rather than 1234567.

I have determined mine has a noisey wrist pin and I am f--KED for warranty.

That sucks! Wonder if I could switch between the stock ecu with factory tune when warranty service is required and get another ecu with a black bear tune for everyday use?

I am pretty sure the noise I have is a DOD related problem. The idle feel matches the knocking noise. The truck almost feels like it is missing when you barley creep in drive or reverse.

I thought about swapping ecu, and i'll look into it to see how they deal with that.
There are a few posts on the HPT forums about this stuff.

How are you sure of this? Do you work at a dealership? Does it show up on the Tech 2?

I have access to a Tech 2, and a tuned 2011 6.2 liter truck to verify this. If this is speculation, I can verify it I guess, if that helps anybody. I just don't really know what I'm looking for unless you tell me.

tsb # 09-06-04-026 aug13/2010 title Aftermarket Calibrations
The tsb will tell you how to check it with a tech2.
The tsb has pics of tech2 screen with calibration history #'s on it.

check it on alldata or mitchell

google the tsb # and you'll find some stuff

I tried to copy and paste the tsb but won't work.

That would be it,
I'm f--ked. And anyone else with a mechanical engine failure for that matter.

This tsb applies to internal engine issues and maybe tranny,
not brakes, steering, suspension etc


I am going to look into the pcm swap.

The thing is, except for dod valve train stuff, there isn't alot of stuff going wrong with these engines, so tune away but be prepared for the risk.
Even if the issue is not tuning related, it doesn't matter.
Yes the Magnason thing[or whatever it's called] is there [GM have to prove what you did caused the problem] but that is nothing but a big hassle for lawyers to make money .
Not much help if your daily driver is out of service.

So, tuners tune at your own risk.

AND, IF TUNING FOR SOMEONE ELSES TRUCK THAT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY?????
You might want to get a release or disclaimer and check the legality of that.

In my case, I will likely have to fix mine myself, and it won't be cheap. Too bad on a 18,000km truck.
If the engine is coming out and apart, uumm, might have to do some stuff.

Any suggestions??

If I read the tsb correctly it would appear I am okay because I have an 05 and that only shows 2006-11.... I wonder how far back they will go....

Is your 2005 still covered by a GM warranty?
