the Roadmaster had 28" tires though, right? A few inches in tire diameter makes a difference.

Hell, my 91 TBI 305 Caprice had 2.56 gear and was able to do a burnout. That car has the potential to get pretty decent fuel economy on the highway at least.

I'd like to see direct injection added to the Vortec V8s.

yep the road master would have shorter tires making the difference, now put some 31" or bigger tires on that roadmaster and see what it will do, i know my maro with 3.23's would have struggle with that big a tire

Well, I am currently running 235-75-15 Michelins on it so that equates to a 29" TALL TIRE. The 2 inches isn't that big of a difference.
