How big is the cam? Numbers look pretty good for a Mustang dyno to be honest.

BTW, what is that NV3500 rated for power-wise?

250hp -335tq is what google told me. I have a bolt on 4.8 with a nv3500 its got just over 102k miles and shifts great around town but at the track everytime I throw for third it grinds and takes a good second to get in. I ran my best run by staying in second till the end.

Maybe a brand new one with a hurst shifter would shift a little better.

I will say it surprised me that it has survived 15+ 4x4 launches and i bounce it off the limiter when I dump the clutch.

Try that with the 6.0 if it lives ill be impressed

Good to hear, I hang around Diesels all day, so 300 at the wheels sounds low, but she feels fast and response is great, most of the trucks I work on these days push over 650HP, but at least my wheels are only 4500 lbs not 8000+! It can go around a corner =)

Comp Cams #54-414-11

XFI RPM Hydraulic Roller Camshaft
GM Gen III/LS1/LS2/LS6 1997-PRESENT (Three-Bolt)
Lift: .525''/.532''
Duration: 269°/273°
Lobe Separation Angle: 114°
RPM Range: 1300-6300

I have LS6 Springs in with that cam no other mods currently. Open to suggestions for improvements on valvetrain.

I know the NV3500 is the weak point, so far its been good for me. I wanted the gear ratios and decided to gamble. I have a GM parts warranty as I purchased this new, might need to try and use it!

So Perhaps someone can help with my latest concern, during 4x4 launches I have a clunk under large torque, more than one if you keep your foot in it and a small loss of drive, feels like the front is slipping and the rear is left doing what it can. 2wd is no problems. transfer case was rebuilt before the project so I would hope the chain cant slip.

Before this issue it felt like I was going to lift the front tires on 1-2 shift, now shes just not putting power down in 4x4.

I think the sound is coming from front axle, front right, anyone else ever had issues with the 4x4 popping out? I am replacing the electronic actuator first to see if it addresses the problem before looking further. If anyone has any ideas let me know, I searched and someone else here had the same issue here on the forum but no clear solution was posted.

Thanks!

On my first 4x4 launch I heard a loud bang. it was from my front driver side axle shaft breaking (not a good day).

How is your clearance bettween Y pipe and front drive shaft? Mine is super close and I was worried about it banging together.

Also be carefull of your tie rods. They are a huge weak point in our front ends I got some cheap sleeves that seem to hold up good.

Heres a really good thread on the subject

Well after a drive with a friend we decided it was the T Case causing the 4x4 skipping noise.

Just drained this from the T Case,

Will be returning it to where I had it rebuilt shortly I'm thinking a np 261 T case rated for 2564 lb ft correct? should take 360 lb ft x 4.02 = 1450 ft lbs.

Stay tuned for what the problem was!

I would be going back to! There are some really fast guys running stock T cases.

Interested in knowing what happened!
