The weekend before Halloween, my mom's Tahoe stopped on her. It was picked up on Monday October 30 and brought to the shop. It was checked out and we were told the crankshaft was bad and the engine possibly may have been needed to be changed. (Of course they want to put a used engine so my dad is pissed about that).She has the extended warranty through GM so the dealership could not do anything until an adjuster from GM went out and assessed the situation. The adjuster went out that friday Nov.3. The oil pan was pulled and metal was found in the oil. The guy at the dealership told my dad this was normal. BULLSHIT!!! My dad is a diesal mechanic so he knows better. Well last week nothing was done. My moms Tahoe is just sitting there in the shop. My dad keeps calling and nothing is getting done. Today my dad calls the dealership again and they tell him the cam is chipped and a few lifters are bad. Again the adjuster has to come out and tell them what needs to be done.

This is the 5th time her Tahoe goes in the shop since she got it. 3 times for the fuel pump, 1 time for windshield wiper motor, and now for the engine.
This is the 3rd week it is in the shop and nothing has been done yet! My dad called GM and filed a complaint!

2003 Tahoe, 5.3, 54,000 miles.
This is my moms so it has never been driven hard.

My questions are:
1. Has anyone had this sort of problem with a 5.3 under normal driving?
2. What would you do in this situation?

My dad talked to the owner of the dealership today and he offered my dad $13,500 if he wanted to trade it in. My dad just laughed at him.
