ok well I know it's not going to happen right away but I would like to know everyones opinion on tires for the truck. I have 20 that are 8.5 wide. I would like a smooth riding tire plus good wear and traction. I will have a 2/4 hotchkis drop so what size shold I be able to fit or what size would work best. also what brand and stuff would really help. thanks everyone.

 

285/50/20 goodyear eagle gt 2. These tire should be pretty cheap.

 

I actually heard the gt2 suck for traction and on wet pavement.

 

I have toyo proxess s/t on my pickup and they are okay, but I have nitto extreme force suv tires on the Tahoe and they kick ***. I highly recommend the nitto's.

 

I have 285/50/18 on mine with hotchkis 2/4 which are just right IMO, so I think the 285/50/20 may be a little tall. :dunno: Just look for something ~29" tall that will fit your rim width.

 

nitto's will be a choice, wondering if I should go with 285/45/20 or 285/50/20 and do I want the suv or some other ones. just so many to choose

 

so is that with a 45 sidewall or 50 sidewall, I am tired of the 275/55 I have now becasue their like 31 inches tall and suck to even get moving. makes my 3.73 feel like 3.08.

 

285/50/20 GT2's are what I'm running on mine, and there is NO WAY you could drop the truck with these. 2" in the back is it! These tires will rub, mostly due to the 31.22" height. I also think Goodyear advertised/marked these wrong....I have them mounted on 8.5" rims and they're about 12.50" wide.

When I turn the wheel, they don't rub at all, but if it were lowered I know they would rub on the front part of the wheel well when turning the wheel.
I don't recommend these at all!

Stick with something about 29" tall, and see if the tire shop will mount one rim/tire up to see if you like them before you buy them. The Discount tire here will do that for me. Try it!

 

thanks, what's the measurement for 29 inch tall tires. so i know what to look for, so something like 285/45/r20 would be ideal?

285/40/20=28.98"
275/55/20=31.91"
275/50/20=30.83"
275/45/20=29.74"
275/40/20=28.66"
265/50/20=30.43"
265/45/20=29.39"

285=11.22" wide
275=10.83" wide
265=10.43" wide

This should help you get an idea. I don't know if some of these sizes exist, but at least you can get a feel for what you're looking at.
