Default 1996 c2500 wont crank over

whats up guys? i was driving my 96 chevy last night and noticed the PRND indicator light would flicker along with the abs light for a few seconds, then go completely out. it continued to do this for a few minutes until i got to where i was going. parked the truck, killed it, and walked away. 10 minutes later, i came back and it wouldnt even attempt to crank. the truck hasnt had any probs lately other than the abs light along with the park brake light would come on for a few seconds, then go off. its been like that for weeks without an issue. the starter and battery are both good. my buddy came over and "hot wired it" lol, and it cranked fine, but as soon as i try to turn the ignition on, it would shut it down on what he was doing. we couldnt figure it out. anyone have any ideas? ignition switch? any and all help is greatly appreciated. thanks, sam.

Battery cables/terminals, pass lock sensor, ignition switch, fuse block etc etc. Kinda sounds like a loose ground to me.

Getting any security lights? Checked voltage at the battery or starter yet?

No security lights. I'm going back up there in just a little bit and we will have more tools to check voltage and stuff.

if the ignition switch was bad would the service engine soon, parking brake, seat belt, battery, and check gauges lights still be able to come on when the key is turned on? Also, you can hear the fuel pump prime.

VATS (vehicle anti theft syetm) didnt come out of teh GMT400 trudcks until 1998, so security issues wont accur on a 1996 GMT400 vehcile.

If it was a VATS issue, teh truck should have started and then died 3-4 seconds later when the PCM shuts down the injectors for 30 minutes time before another attempt at starting can be made.
