I run 15.7@91 with a 2.3 60' in the 1/4 while a bunch of other guys are running 15.1@87ish. I'm barely slipping when I launch. I figured my slow times were due to my 3.42's, but my trap speed is higher in comparison with others. Is it just the gears or is there something wrong here?

First of all....3.42s suck.
Second, the LR4 lacks torque having only 285lbs @ 4000 rpm
due to its short 3.270" stroke. That 285lbtq @ 4000rpm against a truck weighing over 2 tons = slooow out-of-the-hole. That plus shitty gears (3.42s) = even slower.
It has plenty of hp which yields you a nice MPH. The more torque, the quicker off the line, the more hp, the higher mph trough the traps. To give you an example, a 4.8 will probably take off as hard as a 4.3 L35 truck (260lbs @ 2800rpm) but it will sloughter it in the high end. (4.3 = 200hp vs. 4.8 = 270hp.)
Some lower gears or a higher rpm stall converter would definately lower your 60' hence lower ETs.
Hope this helps.

My truck ran a 15.5 @ 91.2 with a 2.3 60 ft when it had K&N FPIK , and a flowmaster .. Now it is lowered 5/7 , 20" Boyd Coddington ,Hypertech HPPIII , Eaton Posi with 3.73 Gear .. I tried to run it once with all that **** , but I spun to the 330 ft and ran a 15.5 @ 93.6 with a 2.6 60 ft ..

I've got 4.11's with 31" tires, so mine takes off pretty good, but sorta falls on its face going into 3rd towards the end of the track.
