This is on our new work truck. We have a 95 Gal Transfer tank in the bed. It has a 3/8" line on the bottom of the tank running down to the fill hose, where it has a Y-fitting. When the 95 gal tank has fuel in it you cannot open the fuel cap or fuel will come out and makes a mess. unless you turn the small ball valve off.
But It is acting like my truck with the fuel gauge, it will just drop to Empty and the low fuel light comes on. But if we turn the valve off, it will act like normal.
Do yall think that it is creating too much pressure in the stock fuel tank? Messing with the computer or something?

When it shows low fuel, and light goes on will it keep on driving or is it actually empty? and mybe pressure in tank is keeping fuel from flowing into tank. maybe just rig an electri solenoid valve that once your tank starts to get empty, just open it up let it fill teh stock tank then close it again.... taht way the evap system still sees stock pressures, and wont freak out....
the way you have it setup now you run the risk of flooding your evap canister....

It keeps running fine, it just sits on E until we kill it and then when we turn it back on, everything is fine for about 100 or so miles. I was thinking it was the Fuel Sending Unit or something to do with the pressure that its puttin on the tank.
ahhh,, well we didnt put it in. the place we bought the tank from installed it.
Now i have turned the valve off until the stock 26gal tank gets down to about 1/2 full, then crawl back there and turn the valve on, we can go all day and the gauge slowly rises. and the needle wont drop. So thats why i think it has to do something with the pressure and keeping the tank completely full.
I want to rig up a Solenoid valve but i doubt my boss will let me. the guys i work with are too lazy to flip the switch to work it. so they want something where they just get in and drive it..
What is the Evap canister?? That sounds like it could cause other problems if fuel flooded it.
My brother can get me a 12vdc fluid solenoid valve so im goin to try to talk my boss into letting me install it..
On that 05 F-350 we had, it had a 100 gal tank in the bed. it had a level gauge, pump, and display that was installed under the dash, it controlled itself. when the fuel gauge moved on the dash we had half a tank in the bed and stock tank. we could tell how many gallons we had in the bed and in the stock tank. it cost something like 1200 though. our current setup in the GMC cost a total of 500 installed.

The only systems I've taken note of have an external pump system. You just stop and refill the regular tank and take off again. I did talk to one guy who says his system only requires him to fill his 150 gallon tank and that the fuel goes from there to the regular tank and so forth. I havn't looked at it though.
Seems like your truck may be noting your fuel economy in the ECM and judging how empty it is based on electronics(sounds normal these days). You should only have to shut off, then restart the engine so it thinks you've filled it again. I drove my mothers Grand Marquis to fill it for her once(of the many times). I decided to leave the engine running because it was like 95 out and she was inside complaining. I filled it, got back in and drove away.
Soon thereafter, I noticed the low fuel light was still on and then a bell sounded and the system flashed "distance to empty 25 miles" so I thought about it a moment. Shut the engine down at the next redlight, restarted and drove away on green... Problem solved.

Instead Of Crawling Under It To Open Valve... Just Install An Electric Ball Valve... So You Can Shut It Off Which Will Relieve The Pressure, Then Just Flip A Switch And It Will Open And Fill The Tank, Then Flip It Again, And It Is Back To Stock....

the valve is in the bed on the driverside of the tank.
Where can i find a electric ball valve?
Right now it has a small ball valve and small feed line. i think it is a 1/4" line now that i think of it.. 1/4" ID that is. ill have to look to be for sure.

We payed $52k for the 05 F-350 dually, then warranty work killed us. So the company didnt give us too much money to play with on our new trucks. Thats why i now hate fords.
